SmartFish participates in Scientific Forum on Small-Scale Fisheries and Aquaculture2026

From August 25 to 27, 2026, the 12th Scientific Forum on Small-Scale Fisheries and the 2nd Forum on Small-Scale Aquaculture took place in Mexico City. The event was organized by the Mexican Institute for Research in Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture (IMIPAS).

SmartFish AC participated with two presentations:

1) Participatory Process of Climate Change Adaptation Strategies for Small-Scale Fishing Cooperatives

We shared progress in developing climate change adaptation plans for five fishing cooperatives, highlighting the importance of connecting technical knowledge with community participation and local governance to advance adaptation processes that strengthen the resilience and sustainability of fishing communities.

2) Market Efficiency and Value Recovery in Small-Scale Fisheries

We discussed the implementation of the Value Rescue Model in fishing cooperatives in Baja California Sur, which led to substantial improvements in the operational and economic efficiency of the production chain for ocean whitefish (Caulolatilus princeps).
